Robopeak: The climb
In this rhythm platformer you are controlling a tiny robot with one wheel. Your task? Climbing to the top of the mountain! After all, you were built to scale! *
In additon to climbing, you will need to listen carefully to the flow of the music. Jumping and climbing large distances are possible thanks to your trusty grappling hook. Your challenge is to press the correct input every other beat. Beware, the collection of inputs is broad; your whole keyboard may be used during a typical game of Robopeak!
Missing the beat comes at a cost. You have a battery capacity of 3 energy levels. You lose 1 level for every missed beat. When you reach 0 energy levels, your mobility is impaired.
Falling down to a lower platform requires you to scan for hook points for your grappling hook.
Controls:
Jumping = spacebar
Standing up = right mouse button
Using jump pad = left mouse button
Using grappling hook = any input key on your keyboard
Scanning for hook points = backspace
* This game is a submission for the GMTK 2024 gamejam

Great job, I especially enjoyed the timing aspect. It can be a bit punishing at times.
Yup I agree, originally we intended to have multiple "beat loops" which would progressively get faster to introduce the player to the increasing difficulty. Thanks for playing!
It's a fun experience! The only thing is that it feels a little bit punishing when falling from heights.
The timing was a little bit confusing at first, I would suggest a color change when the "bop" happens because the circle getting closer makes me think about pressing when the circle connects with the dot, and it's just a little bit after that.
Looks promising!
Thanks! Yeah you are right, we also had some trouble with the timings during the playtesting. Giving it a color is a great suggestion!
